Reduction in version complexity leads to maximum savings

By providing extensive direction to a major service warranty contract provider, we helped our client reduce version complexity and benefit from maximum postal rate savings.

    Challenge:
A major service warranty contract provider concluded that their 1,000+ annual direct mail programs needed to be simplified. The client’s programs, which included more than 20 versions of forms, envelopes and inserts, resulted in a significant number of package variations. In addition, these variations limited postage discounts and created tracking inefficiencies and challenges.

    Goals:

    1. Reduce program complexity to better manage and track marketing effectiveness
    2. Reduce production costs related to setup, printing and lettershop
    3. Maximize postage discounts

    Taylor Solution:

    1. Create a change process that allowed all marketing programs to be sorted into a single file reducing the number of required form set-ups.
    2. Provide a single, large-volume mailing solution, reducing the number of mail streams from 75 to just ONE.
    3. Create a cost-effective method to track effectiveness of marketing programs.

    Results:

    1. Reduced the number of package versions by more than 75%.
    2. Eliminated more than 50% of the form set-up work and administrative costs.
    3. Generated significantly lower postage rates through co-mingling of mail.
    4. Improved delivery time.
